After the potter judges that the mucahua is fired, the firing bowl is lifted from the fire with two machetes. The ashes are dumped out, the firing bowl turned upside down. The mucahua (sitting on a machete here) is placed on the opening to cool slightly before it is coated with Shilquilu tree sap.
